About Glenmore Christian Academy
Mission: To educate children in a dynamic Christian environment dedicated to excellence in learning and life development.
Glenmore Christian Academy is a Christian alternative school under the Palliser Regional School Division #26. The school uses the approved Alberta Curriculum, taught by certificated teachers. Since its inception in 1980, the school has a history of providing quality Christian education in an academic environment.
The school is comprised of a Kindergarten program and Elementary School lead by Mrs. Gwen Uittenbosch, the elementary principal, and an Intermediate School under the direction of Dr. Derrick Mohamed as principal and Mr. Kevin Bailey as vice-principal.
GCA is governed by a Board of Directors, appointed by the GCA Educational Society membership. The school has an affiliation with First Alliance Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
Located in a newly-renovated, spacious and highly equipped 126,996 ft² building, aside from the classrooms, GCA has two libraries, three computer labs, two large gymnasiums, 550 seat theatre and cafeteria.
Coming from diverse cultures and beliefs, our students uphold GCA’s biblically-based perspective while receiving a strong, innovative, creative and accredited education within an inter-denominational Christian tradition. Our students learn from specialist educators in the liberal arts, sciences, fine arts and physical education in order to maintain our high educational standard. Both French and Spanish are introduced in grades 4 and 6 through to grade 9 using the renowned Rosetta Stone language program.
The Kindergarten to Grade 9 program includes four classes of Kindergarten to Grade 3 (@20 students or less). In grades 4 to 9, our goal at GCA is to have three classes of each with no more than 25 students per class. Under extenuating circumstances and at the discretion of the Administration, we reserve the right to increase the number of students per class as required.
Extra-curricular participation is highly encouraged and we offer a diverse range of activities including performing arts, choir, intramural and competitive sports. Our grade 9 students participate in an international missionary trip to help build homes, join in community outreach in order to see the impact they can have for Christ in our world. In partnership with supportive, involved parents, the goal of our GCA team is to help develop well-educated, faith-filled youth in a creative, active and nurturing Christian environment.
The school has been consistently recognized by the Fraser Institute as one of the top 4% of elementary schools in the Province of Alberta, having tied for 1st place in February 2005.
The school finances are audited annually by a reputable accounting firm and submitted yearly to Alberta Education.
